International Student - One who is legally domiciled in a country other than the United States of America at the time of first admission or application to our School.
I-20 Certificate of Eligibility - A document for non-immigrant M-1 or F-1 student status, issued by the admissions officer to be used by the student to apply for an M-1 or F-1 Visa to the United States. A person is eligible for an M-1 or F-1 status only if he/she is without intention of remaining permanently in the United States and has adequate financial resources. Training programs are conducted entirely in English.
Form I-94 - Record of arrival and departure, is normally stapled to a page in the passport. When you leave the U.S., you must surrender the Form I-94.
Affidavit of Support - The document presented by the student to the Academy, with a bank statement, to show evidence of adequate financial resources. Upon satisfactory completion of admissions requirements, the affidavit is attached to the I-20, which may then be presented to an American Consul or Immigration Office to gain an M-1 status.
Transcript of Credits - An official copy of the permanent academic record of the student's high school (12 grade equivalency) and/or college grades.
TOEFL: Test of English as a Foreign Language, IELTS - or - ESL Compass Assessment Test - Confidential examinations given through procedures designed to protect its security before, during and after its administration. All international applicants whose native language is not English must arrange to take one of these tests and have the official score report sent to the Academy if seeking a degree. Scores over one year old are not acceptable.

A minimum score is 500 (paper based), 173 (computer based), 61 (internet based) for TOEFL, 5.0 for IELTS or 90 for ESL Compass is required for admittance to a Degree program. In addition, all U. S. Flight Academy students will take an English proficiency examination.
Academy Policy - All international students entering our Academy with an Immigration status of M-1 or F-1 (student), immigrant or refugee are required to sit for a proficiency examination in the English Language. The result will determine if the student will enroll in the ESL - English as A Secondary Language class - with emphasis on the Aviation Language.
